Personal Recommendation
Do Ask - you may find someone easily - remember that, unless you ask, people will not know that you are looking.

Your Local Reference Library
Some local reference libraries keep a dedicated file on tutors who have visited the library and left literature of some sort. Some libraries allow tutors to leave leaflets on information tables or notice boards. Some authorities have a section for tutors on their computer information networks. Also, there is often a list of local associations, clubs and societies kept by local reference libraries.

Local Town/City or Region Directory
This may be either in printed form and distributed annually, or on the local computer network in libraries, or on the internet.

Local Press
The section is usually Education, Tutoring or Tuition. Tutors may advertise once per week on the busiest night, eg Friday.

Advertise Yourself In The Local Press
Results can vary enormously from zero response upwards but you may be fortunate. You may wish to use a box number.

Independent Tutorial Colleges
May be found in a local directory under, eg Independent Schools and Colleges or similar. These tutorial colleges usually take students from age 14 and upwards, for GCSE and 'A' Level Courses. Some of these colleges provide one-to-one tuition on site. A few of them operate agencies where a tutor will come to your home.

Local Chamber of Commerce
Many operate a computerised Training Database with no charge to the enquirer. May be a source of tutors in, eg languages or technical subjects.
